Music ~ Friends ~ Fun

SUJ Goes Virtual

Instead of our usual Workshop nights, we will be holding live "watch parties" on Facebook every two weeks in our usual 7:30 pm timeslot. We'll have a mix of play-along charts and previous open mic performances, along with a live text chat window to comment and interact with your uke friends!

To join you will need a Facebook account, and you'll also need to be an "approved" member of our Facebook group at  https://www.facebook.com/groups/scarboroughukes/ -- don't worry, we approve everyone usually within a few minutes.

On alternate Mondays we will have a Google Meet video chat. We will be ready to go if folks are interested in presenting a chart or playing an open mic, but we are also good just to talk if that is the vibe. It's all about community and connection. Check the calendar or watch the Facebook page for details. NOTE: Google Meet requires a Gmail or other Google account.

Founded in October 2013 and inspired by the world-famous Corktown Ukulele Jam.  A fun, low-pressure environment where you can play and sing with a group of like-minded uke enthusiasts. All skill levels welcome!

We meet (nearly) every Monday from 7:30 pm to 9:30ish upstairs at The Olde Stone Cottage Pub (3750 Kingston Rd. at the corner of Scarborough Golf Club Rd.). Arrive early to get a good seat and a beverage!  Admission is $5.

Record with Us!

Check back to see what our next Soundtrap song is! In the meantime, visit our Recordings page to listen to our last jam collaboration: Twist and Shout/La Bamba.

Below is a short video about the Soundtrap basics.

Scarborough Uke Jam alternates between two formats:

Workshop: An opportunity to learn new songs. Our fearless leader (music teacher extraordinaire Paul Butters) and The Hardest Working Ukulele Rhythm Section In Southeast Scarborough on a Monday Night™ (featuring Paul Bailie, Matthew Bartram and Jay Moonah) take you through a wide selection of tunes from yesterday and today (but not tomorrow, at least not until we buy that time machine.) The workshop is followed by the friendliest open stage in the GTA.

Circle: An 'open' jam style night using the Scarborough Uke Jam back catalog of charts. A more casual kind of session: no amplification, no workshopping new tunes, mainly just ukes rather than a full rhythm section. If you have a song to share with the group, bring a bunch of copies!
